Alipurduar, 09th June: In a distressing incident, the lifeless body of a five-year-old girl was recovered from a river in the Kalkut village adjacent to the Buxa Tiger Reserve of the Alipurudar district. The deceased girl has been identified as Anjali Sangma, the daughter of a local resident, Abhiraj Sangma.
As per details gathered, the five-year-old had gone missing after departing from home on Saturday afternoon. Despite searching in various locations, the girl could not be located until her deceased body was found floating in the river on Sunday morning. The police officials were informed of the incident.
The Kalchini police officers arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and transferred it to the Alipurduar District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. At present, the incident is under further investigation.
