Siliguri, 15th November: The Pradhan Nagar police have arrested five individuals suspected of gathering for criminal activities. The arrested individuals have been identified as Pankaj Roy, Sagar Mangar, Asim Chhetri, Ayush Khati, and Anmol Pradhan. Among them, Pankaj Roy is a known criminal. While Pankaj hails from the Pradhan Nagar area, the others are residents of Darjeeling.
As per reports, on Thursday night, police received a tip-off about a group of miscreants gathering in Rajiv Nagar, Ward No. 46, allegedly to plan criminal activities. Acting swiftly, the police conducted a raid, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including Pankaj Roy. However, several others managed to escape. Items used in robberies were reportedly recovered from the arrested individuals.
According to police sources, Pankaj Roy had previously been arrested for drug-related offenses and spent several days in a rehabilitation facility. Despite his release, he allegedly resumed his criminal activities.
The arrested individuals were presented before the Siliguri court on Friday, and further investigations into the case are underway.
