5 injured in head-on collision between bikes in Siliguri; 4 in critical condition

Siliguri, 18th November: A head-on collision between two bikes on Sunday night in the Eastern Bypass area under Ashighar Outpost left five people injured, four of them critically.


The injured were initially rushed to Siliguri District Hospital, but due to the severity of their condition, four were referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).

The injured have been identified as Pramila Roy from Purba Dhantala, Rohan Sarkar of Ghoghomali, Himesh Biswas of Ashighar Colony, and Bappa Das from Madani Bazaar. The identity of one individual remains unknown.


According to reports, three youths were riding on one bike, while the other bike carried a woman and a man. The collision occurred while they were crossing the road in the Eastern Bypass area.

Local residents, upon witnessing the accident, immediately informed the Ashighar Outpost and Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard. Police arrived at the scene promptly and facilitated the injured’s transfer to the hospital.

Locals have alleged that frequent accidents occur in the area due to poor traffic management and lack of street lighting. They criticized the administration for failing to address these issues. Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
