Siliguri, 09th March: The 47th Annual General Meeting was held at the NJP Railway Mazdoor Union office. The leaders present at the meeting staged a protest against the privatization of railways.
Ashish Biswas, general secretary of the organization, said that the BJP government is trying to take the railways on the path of privatization and that the process has also commenced in this regard. He also demanded an immediate introduction of the old pension scheme and Dearness Allowance (DA).
Biswas further said that even though their organization has started a movement, the Railway Department has not shown any sympathy towards their demands. Therefore, they will stage larger demonstrations in the future after outlining it through the annual general meeting.
