Naxalbari, 26th September: Naxalbari Police intercepted a container at Satbhaiya More on National Highway 327 during the early hours and prevented the alleged illegal transportation of buffaloes. A total of 46 buffaloes were rescued.
According to police, the container was carrying buffaloes from Bihar to Assam. During the inspection, police found that the driver could not produce valid livestock documents for transporting the buffaloes.
Police subsequently rescued all 46 buffaloes and arrested the driver, identified as Rakesh Roy, a resident of Bihar.
The container was also seized from the spot. The arrested driver was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Saturday.
