Siliguri, 7th December: The 42nd edition of the North Bengal Book Fair was officially inaugurated at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri.
The inauguration ceremony, marked by the lighting of a lamp, was attended by actor Anirban Chakraborty, renowned author Arpita Sarkar, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, and other distinguished guests. On Friday, the inauguration was marked by a grand procession leading up to the formal opening.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Gautam Deb expressed optimism about a large turnout this year, as the book fair enters its 42nd year.
Actor Anirban Chakraborty shared his excitement about visiting the fair for the first time. He also pointed out the pressure on students, especially with school textbooks, who barely have time to read fiction and literature.
