36 pilgrims injured in bus collision on National Highway 31 in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 17th November: A collision between two buses on National Highway 31 in the Chaltatala area of Alipurduar district left 36 pilgrims injured on Saturday night. The injured were part of a group of 90 pilgrims traveling from Gujarat to visit the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati.


Reportedly, there were two buses, one heading to Deoghar and the other to Gangasagar, after visiting the Kamakhya Temple. Later on Saturday night, the Gangasagar-bound bus suddenly applied brakes, causing the bus from Deoghar, traveling behind, to crash into it.

The collision resulted in injuries to approximately 36 people, all residents of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Following the incident, the injured were rushed to a local rural hospital before being transferred to the Alipurduar District Hospital for further treatment.


Upon receiving initial medical care, 12 of the injured were discharged from the district hospital, while 24 individuals, including 18 women and 6 men, remained hospitalized. Three of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. The police are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.
