Phansidewa, 31st March: Tension gripped the Budharugaon area of Phansidewa after 322 names, including that of a Booth Level Officer (BLO), were found missing from the electoral roll, triggering protests.
According to reports, Booth No. 27/219 initially had 892 registered voters. During the publication of the full voter list, 344 names were placed under review. However, in the second supplementary list, 322 of those names were deleted, while only 22 names were added. The BLO assigned to the same booth was also among those excluded.
Following the publication of the revised list, affected people staged protests, burning tyres and expressing strong resentment. Protesters warned that polling would not be allowed at the booth unless their names were reinstated.
Allegations have been raised that the Election Commission selectively targeted individuals from the minority community. It is claimed that despite their names appearing in the 2002 voter list and submission of supporting documents, their names were removed.
