3,000 miscreants arrested in two months: DCP Biswa Chand Thakur

Siliguri, 07th September: Criminal activities in Siliguri have significantly decreased due to the proactive efforts of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Biswa Chand Thakur. In the last two months alone, 3,000 criminals involved in cases like theft and snatching have been arrested and jailed.


Addressing the media at a press conference, DCP Thakur shared that a special drive campaign has been launched in preparation for the upcoming Puja. As part of this campaign, police stations across Pradhan Nagar, Bhakti Nagar, Matigara, Bagdogra, and NJP have successfully apprehended the miscreants.

Additionally, the ‘Winners Squad’ is patrolling every street and locality to ensure the safety of women. DCP Thakur also noted that non-functional CCTV cameras in the city are being repaired, and several new cameras are being installed ahead of the festive season.
