Siliguri, 07th June: In a tragic incident, the body of a young woman was found hanging from the noose in the Sanghati More area of Ward No. 38 in Siliguri. The deceased has been identified as Keya Dutta (26), a lawyer from the Siliguri Court. The unexpected demise of the lawyer led to widespread shock and mourning in the entire area.
According to reports, Keya lived with her mother in a flat in Sanghati More. On the night of the incident, Keya returned home after a routine day. However, later at night, her mother attempted to call her, only to receive no response. Alarmed, Keya’s mother called the neighbours for help. Upon breaking down the door to Kaya’s room, they found her hanging from the noose.
Keya was immediately retrieved and transported to the Siliguri District Hospital where the on-duty medical professionals declared her dead upon arrival. The deceased body has been transferred to the North Bengal Medical and College Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. At the same time, the Ashighar Outpost police initiated an investigation into the case.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the deceased lawyer was the niece of MMIC Dulal Dutta of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC). Regarding her unexpected demise, Dulal Dutta stated that his niece had a calm personality and that there were no familial issues that might have prompted her to take the drastic step.
