Phansidewa, 18th October: A smuggler was arrested while attempting to transport a truck loaded with cattle. The incident took place in Muraligachh, Phansidewa. The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Khobin Hossain, a resident of Uttar Dinajpur.
According to reports, on Friday morning, police set up a checking in the area and noticed a truck trying to evade the stop. Followed by a brief chase, the truck was intercepted and the officials found 25 cows inside the vehicle. The truck driver did not have any valid documents pertaining to the possession of the cattle, leading to the arrest.
Police sources indicated that the cows were intended to be smuggled from Bihar to Bangladesh. The accused was presented in the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court, and an investigation into the entire incident is underway.
