Kurseong, 16th August: The winners and contenders of the panchayat elections who stood under the banner of the Bharatiya Janata Party were felicitated in an event graced by the presence of Member of Parliament, Raju Bista. The program, held at the Gauri Shankar tea garden in Kurseong, was conducted under the chairmanship of Dhan Kumar Bomzon.
At the event, newly elected Panchayat members, Panchayat Committee members, and all participants of the election were felicitated. MP Raju Bista personally bestowed mementos upon the recipients as a gesture of recognition for their commitment and participation. During the proceedings, Sonam, Bharatiya Janata Party Darjeeling District Secretary, emphasized that while the BJP might have faced setbacks, these were not genuine losses but rather the outcome of manipulative tactics and administrative maneuvering. He expressed confidence that the party could establish a board in the near future.
The event featured notable figures addressing the attendees, including Buddhist priest Pemba Rinpoche and Bharatiya Janata Party Darjeeling District President Kalyan Dewan. Furthermore, the ceremony marked the induction of over 200 individuals from various regions within Kurseong, including Mahanadi, Ghumti, Jungpana, Tindhare, Gayabari, Sitong, and beyond. MP Raju Bista warmly welcomed the new entrants into the party, symbolically presenting them with the party’s flag.
