Naxalbari, 06th June: Naxalbari police have arrested two drug peddlers, Tapesh Barman and Bapi Barman, who were absconding in connection with the recovery of brown sugar and cash.
According to reports, on May 15, the police raided a house at Tukria More in Naxalbari and seized 70 grams of brown sugar along with Rs 2,65,000 in cash. Three people were arrested that night, but Tapesh and Bapi had been on the run since then.
After receiving a tip-off, the police arrested the two accused from the Shantinagar area on Thursday night. They were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Friday. Police officials have stated that continuous operations will be carried out to curb the drug trade in the region.
