Siliguri, 03rd November: In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old boy, Rahul Das, was found hanging from a noose at his residence in Ratan Lal Basti area under Pradhan Nagar police station. The young boy had been battling a severe drug addiction for some time, leading to multiple suicide attempts.
According to family members, Rahul had become deeply entrenched in substance abuse, and despite their efforts to help him overcome this addiction, he succumbed to the pressures. On the night of the incident, Rahul returned home under the influence of drugs and went to sleep. The next morning, his family discovered his lifeless body hanging from the ceiling.
The police were immediately informed, and they arrived at the scene to collect the body and send it for a post-mortem examination at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
Rahul’s bereaved mother blamed the rampant drug trade in the area for her son’s death. She revealed that her son had become addicted to the drugs easily available in the locality and that despite her efforts; she was unable to save him.
Local residents have also raised concerns about the open sale of drugs in the area, which is leading to the addiction of young children. They have demanded strict action from the administration to curb the drug menace.
