16-foot python rescued in Jalpaiguri after killing goat

Jalpaiguri, 08th April: A massive python measuring around 16 feet was rescued from the Jhar Matiali area near Lataguri in Jalpaiguri district after it reportedly killed a goat.


According to local sources, the python had caught a goat and dragged it into a canal connected to the Teesta River. Forest department officials rushed to the spot after receiving information, but the reptile had already killed the animal by the time they arrived.

The forest team later rescued the large python, which is estimated to weigh around 45 kilograms. Officials subsequently released the reptile back into the forests of Lataguri.
