Islampur, 16th March: A 15-year-old was found hanging from a noose in Ambagan Colony under Islampur police station in Uttar Dinajpur district on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Jalal.
Reportedly, Jalal’s mother Jahanara Begum runs a tea stall in front of Islampur Sub Divisional Hospital. According to her, Jalal had recently fallen in love with a 14-year-old girl and was intending to marry her. Apparently, Jahanara Begum tried to persuade her son to marry the girl when he comes of age.
On Monday, Jalal came to his mother’s shop in a drunken state which led to an argument between the two. Jalal headed home and after a while, he was found hanging from a noose at his house. Jalal’s body was immediately rushed to Islampur Sub Divisional Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Police recovered the body and have sent it for postmortem. Following this, an investigation has been initiated on the incident.
