14-year-old district level kabaddi player dies in the tragic Dhupguri accident

Siliguri, 21st January: Koel Barman, a resident of Ward No. 20 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation, lost her life in the horrifying accident at Dhupguri on Tuesday night.


14-year-old Koel was on her way to a marriage ceremony with her grandparents, during which the accident took away her life. She was an eighth-grade student and a district-level kabaddi player. Apart from academics, she loved to dance.


It is to recall that at least 13 people lost their lives and 18 were injured in a tragic road accident on the national highway near the Jaldhaka Bridge area of ​​Dhupguri under Jalpaiguri district, on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, Koel lost her life in the incident while her grandparents suffered severe injuries and are still undergoing treatment.

Koel’s mother Pinky Barman said that their daughter was interested in sports since childhood and wished to pursue her career in it. Her family and friends broke down into tears as soon as the news of her untimely demise came to light. This morning, Ashok Bhattacharya met Koel’s family and expressed his condolences.
