Jalpaiguri, 02nd April: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested 14 Bangladeshi nationals from the Kamakhya–Anand Vihar North East Express at Jalpaiguri Road railway station late Wednesday night. Women and children were also among those detained.
Acting on specific intelligence, the RPF carried out a search operation in a general coach after the train arrived at the station. During the operation, 14 suspicious individuals were identified and taken off the train.
During the search, multiple Aadhaar and PAN cards were recovered along with Malaysian currency and mobile phones. Verification of the Aadhaar numbers raised suspicion, with officials believing the documents to be fake.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that all the detained individuals are residents of different districts of Bangladesh and had entered India illegally by crossing the border.
All 14 have been arrested. Sources indicate that after reaching Delhi by the North East Express, they were planning to travel further to Jammu and Kashmir.
