Siliguri, 08th December: A nationwide strike has been called today (Dec 08) demanding the repeal of the Center’s farm bill. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also called for a 12-hour bandh across North Bengal today condemning the death of party worker, Ulen Roy, during the Uttarkanya campaign on Monday.
The bandh supporters of all the parties took to the streets since morning in support of their respective strikes. Likewise, Veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Ashok Bhattacharya also took to the streets in support of the bandh and monitored the situation from Anil Biswas Bhawan. Many left workers and activists were spotted playing cricket on the empty roads. Bhattacharya too participated in the game.
