Kalimpong, 30th July: The incessant rainfall over the past few days has led to frequent landslides in several parts of the hills and neighbouring state Sikkim.
In one such incident, one labour working on the Sevoke-Rangpo Rail Line Project was killed and four others were seriously injured at Mam Khola near Melli on National Highway 10 last night after heavy rain triggered landslip. As per the report, several other workers working at the site are missing.
Upon receiving the information, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha President Bimal Gurung reached the spot this morning to take stock of the situation. He inspected the accident spot and urged immediate rescue and medical assistance from the railway administration to the victims.
