Youth held for arguing with Traffic police and refusing to pay fine in Siliguri

Siliguri, 27th December: A youth has been arrested by Siliguri police on charges of refusing to pay a traffic fine and engaging in a scuffle with a traffic police officer. The youth, identified as Ayush Jajodia, is a resident of the Naya Bazar area in Siliguri.


Reportedly, the youth was riding his motorcycle without a helmet on Thursday night near Jalpai More. During this, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) traffic officer, Bipul Barman, stopped the youth and asked him to show his documents. As the youth failed to provide the necessary documents and was found violating traffic rules by riding without a helmet, he was fined approximately ₹3,000.

However, the situation escalated when the youth reportedly became enraged and shoved ASI Bipul Barman. The accused is also alleged to have threatened the officer during the altercation. Following the incident, the traffic officer filed a written complaint at the Siliguri Police Station.


The police investigated and the arrested youth was presented in the Siliguri Court, later on Friday. At present, the incident is under further police investigation.
