Women protested by surrounding Minister Udayan Guha in Bhetaguri of Dinhata

Dinhata, 19th April: In a recent development on the polling day of the first phase of Lok Sabha polls, the women protested by surrounding North Bengal Development Minister Udayan Guha at Bhetaguri in Uttar Para of Dinhata.


As per reports, the police had arrested a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Panchayat member of the area. The move was resented by the locals of the area. Later, as Minister Udayan Guha arrived, the women of the village surrounded him and resorted to protest. Following the incident, a tense atmosphere prevailed in the area resulting in the deployment of a huge police force.

In this regard, the locals claimed that voting process in the area was peaceful, while accusing Guha of spreading unrest. They added that the police arrested the BJP Panchayat member following his instructions.


However, Minister Guha claimed that the police had been on a lookout for the BJP Panchayat member for a long time, which prompted his arrest on this day. He further stated the incident to be a drama of the BJP.
