Siliguri, 08th March: A shocking incident of murder unfolded in broad daylight at the Siliguri District Hospital where a woman was publicly murdered by her son-in-law. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Shahid.
Sources close to the family revealed that Mohammad Shahid and Sakina Khatoon had been married for seven years, during which unrest persisted within the family. Despite Sakina leaving her in-laws’ house to seek refuge at her parental home, the discord remained unresolved.
On Friday, a scuffle ensued among the three when the situation escalated near the Siliguri District Hospital. It has been reported that Mohammad Shahid retrieved a knife from his bag and the accused violently attacked his wife and mother-in-law. Tragically, Ruksana Khatoon succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while Sakina Khatoon was promptly rushed to Siliguri District Hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the local residents apprehended the assailant who was subsequently handed over to Siliguri police station for further investigation.
