Siliguri, 10th February: The Ward No. 37 Trinamool Congress staged a protest in Siliguri in support of various demands such as the commencement of the widow’s allowance and old age allowance.
The elderly people of the area staged a protest at SMC under the leadership of Councillor Ranjan Shil Sharma and later a staged a sit-in protest in front of the Mayor’s office. The Councillor warned of staging larger demonstrations if their demands are not met soon.
On the other hand, Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya condemned the role of the Councillor and alleged that he is ‘using the common people’.
