Siliguri, 03rd January: Independent candidate Birendra Kapoor alias Masum filed his nomination papers against Trinamool Congress candidate Sanjay Pathak in Ward No. 01.
Birendra Kapoor reached the SDO office with his associates and submitted his nomination as an independent candidate. It is to be noted that he decided to stand as an independent candidate after he was not given a TMC ticket.
Submitting the nomination papers, Birendra Kapoor said, “Trinamool Congress would have given me a ticket from Ward No. 1. However, some leaders used their influence to give Sanjay Pathak the ticket. Residents of the ward are unwilling to accept this decision. I submitted my nomination papers today as an independent candidate.”
