Siliguri, 08th October: Kalimpong Police, with the help of Pradhan Nagar Police Station, arrested two men from the Siliguri Junction area after they allegedly stole ₹1.50 lakh in cash from a shop in Kalimpong. Police recovered ₹50,000 in cash and a bike allegedly purchased with the stolen money from their possession.
According to police, the theft took place at a shop in Kalimpong on October 5. Following a complaint from the shop owner, police launched an investigation and found that three people were allegedly involved in the incident. Two of the accused had come to Siliguri after the theft and were hiding in the Siliguri Junction area.
Acting on the information, Kalimpong Police, with the assistance of Pradhan Nagar Police Station, conducted an operation in the area on Wednesday night and arrested Aman Bardewa (28) and Lopsang Tamang (24). Both accused are residents of Kalimpong.
During preliminary questioning, police learned that the accused had purchased a bike using the stolen money and were staying in hiding in Siliguri. Police recovered the bike along with ₹50,000 in cash from their possession.
The two arrested accused have been taken to Kalimpong by the police. Further investigation into the case is underway.
