Two accused arrested from Bagdogra for duping Tamil Nadu resident of lakhs of rupees

Siliguri, 31st March: Police have arrested two accused from Bagdogra for duping lakhs of rupees from an account of a person from Tamil Nadu. The accused have been identified as Tapan Das alias Ashish Chowdhary (21) and Jagdish alias Parth Sarkar (36), a resident of Bagdogra and Chopra respectively.


Reportedly, as per Tamil Nadu Police sources, about 5 months ago, a person named TR Vijay Kumar had registered a case of scam in cybercrime of Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu. According to the victim, he first received a call from an unknown number. After this, a link was sent to his mobile soon after clicking on the link amount of Rs 11.50 lakh disappeared from his bank account.

Based on the complaint, the cybercrime team of Chengalpattu district, engaged in the investigation, first arrested a person. On questioning him, Ashish Chowdhary and Parth Sarkar were arrested from Bagdogra adjacent to Siliguri. Presenting both the accused in the Siliguri court today, the cybercrime team of Chengalpattu district has left for Tamil Nadu after taking them on transit remand for three days for further investigation.
