Triumph Against Odds: Rajganj’s Priyanka Roy clinches gold at National Kickboxing Championship

Rajganj, 29th August: In a remarkable feat, Priyanka Roy of Rajganj emerges victorious with a gold medal at the National Kickboxing Championship in Ranchi. Celebrations abound in her humble neighbourhood as the daughter of a modest family achieved extraordinary success. Priyanka’s resolute dedication to her sport has also earned her four national gold medals and a bronze in the World Kickboxing Championship.


Daughter of Naujan Roy from Chanderbari village in Panikauri Gram Panchayat, Rajganj, Priyanka’s triumph is a testament to her passion for kickboxing, nurtured since childhood. Despite financial constraints, she pursued her training diligently.

The recent Children Cadets and Junior National Kickboxing Championship, held from August 23 to 27 in Ranchi, saw Priyanka compete in the 37kg category and secure the first position. Prior to this, she had already amassed three national gold medals and a bronze on the global stage.


Speaking to the media, Priyanka expressed her joy at clinching the national title and her ambition to continue representing the nation and achieving gold. Her father, Naujan Roy, overflows with pride, despite his role as a mason, and dreams of his daughter donning the national colors. Naujan Roy’s dedication to his daughter’s dream even led him to take loans for her training. He has appealed to the government for financial support, highlighting the lack of assistance despite multiple attempts. Priyanka’s journey stands as an inspiring testament to determination and excellence against all odds.
