Siliguri, 11th June: In a major operation against illegal livestock smuggling, border guards intercepted a trailer transporting 40 buffaloes from Bihar to Assam. Two individuals, identified as Mohammad Collector and Yasin Akand, residents of Uttar Pradesh and Assam respectively, were arrested in connection with the incident.
The interception took place on Monday at the Fulbari tollgate, where the border guards successfully halted the trailer loaded with buffaloes. This seizure highlights the increasing trend of buffalo smuggling from Bihar to Assam, where smugglers are found to be transporting livestock without proper permits.
Following the interception, the arrested individuals were handed over to the NJP police station. On Tuesday, they were presented before the Jalpaiguri court. The police have launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover further details.
