Cooch Behar, 25th April: On Thursday, a tortoise was rescued from a reservoir situated in Uttar Khagrabari area of Cooch Behar Block II.
According to reports, a few local youths went fishing in the reservoir. During this they spotted a turtle, rescued it and brought to a safe place. Subsequently, a crowd of people gathered to see the tortoise.
Upon being alerted, the Forest Department, Mohan Raksha Committee, Zilla Parishad members and others arrived at the spot and took custody of the rescued tortoise. Reportedly, the tortoise would be released at Baneswar Shiv Dighi after an examination.
