Cooch Behar, 14th June: Pushpita Roy Dakua, the Saha-Sabhadhipati of Cooch Behar Zilla Parishad and a prominent Trinamool Congress leader, expressed her deep disappointment and shed tears after being denied a party ticket for the upcoming elections.
The list of Zilla Parishad candidates was announced on Tuesday, and approximately 25 individuals, including several key figures like the current Sabhadhipati and Saha-Sabhadhipati, were left out. Pushpita Roy Dakua, who had previously won from Zilla Parishad Seat No. 32 under the Tufanganj Assembly, was not included in the list, which greatly saddened her.
In an emotional response, Pushpita Roy Dakua shared her journey within the party, stating that she had been an active member for many years. She had served as the president of the Panchayat Committee and then became the chairman of the Zilla Parishad. Naturally, she had expected to receive a ticket for the upcoming elections. However, the party announced the list of candidates without any prior discussions with the concerned members. The party leadership decided to introduce a new face, overlooking her experience and contributions. Despite her disappointment, Pushpita Roy Dakua affirmed her commitment to remaining within the party.
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Partha Pratim Ray responded to the situation, highlighting that the party had meticulously considered various factors before finalizing the candidate list. He emphasized that any comments made regarding the selection process were purely personal opinions and did not reflect the party’s decision-making process.
