Three women killed, one injured in elephant attack in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 12th December: A tragic elephant attack in the Mendabari forest of Jaldapara National Park, Alipurduar district, claimed the lives of three women and left one critically injured. The incident, which occurred earlier today, has shocked the local community.


According to reports, a group of about 10 women from the Mendabari area in Kalchini block had ventured into the forest to collect firewood. While returning, they encountered a herd of elephants, which attacked them. Three women died on the spot, while one sustained serious injuries.

The injured woman was promptly taken to Alipurduar District Hospital for treatment. Upon receiving the information, officials from the forest department and police rushed to the scene. The bodies of the deceased women were recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.
