Rajganj, 06th October: Thieves allegedly broke into a vacant house in the Paghalupara area of Sahudangi, Rajganj, and fled with around 90 grams of gold, cash, household items and other valuables.
According to family members, the husband and wife went to Balurghat on the last Sunday of the previous month. When they returned home on Tuesday morning, they found the belongings inside the house scattered and the rooms in disarray.
The family alleged that although the front portion of the house was intact, the thieves entered through a toilet window at the back of the house. They allegedly broke the lock of the main door and damaged various items inside the house before stealing valuables.
Homeowner Tapan Kumar Kundu said the thieves took around 90 grams of gold, ₹1.5 lakh in cash, another ₹60,000 to ₹70,000 kept at different places, idols of deities, brass and bronze utensils, and four gas cylinders.
Following the incident, a complaint was lodged with Bhorer Alo Police Station. Police have started an investigation based on the complaint.
The family has demanded a swift investigation and recovery of the stolen belongings.
