Tension erupts over encroachment of Government land in Siliguri, police vehicle vandalized

Siliguri, 08th August: Sensation prevailed after a conflict broke out over encroachment of land in Ashighar area of ​​Siliguri. Reportedly, a police vehicle was also vandalized in the incident.


As per the report, Palash Saha, a resident of Ashighar Colony, bought one and a half kattha (around 1080 square feet) of land in the said area 25 years ago. But the locals allege that the land belongs to the government. This led to a dispute between the two sides.

Following the dispute, locals commenced construction of a temple in front of Palash Saha’s house last night. After this, the latter informed the police regarding the incident at the Ashighar Outpost. Based on the complaint, the police reached the spot and stopped the construction work of the temple. As the situation heated up, the locals allegedly attacked the police.


According to police sources, the locals attacked the police and also vandalized their vehicle. Police have launched an operation into the entire incident.
