Siliguri, 12th January: On the 158th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a cultural programme was organized at Siliguri College in the presence of Minister Goutam Deb. He inaugurated the programme by laying a wreath at the portrait of Swami Vivekananda.
In the programme, free uniforms were distributed among the first-year students today. The distribution process is said to continue till January 26.
On the other hand, Swami Vivekananda’s birthday was also celebrated on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party through a procession, which commenced from Hashmi Chowk and toured various parts of the city. BJP state general secretary Sayantan Basu and other party workers were present at the rally.
