Rajganj, 28th February: An attempt to smuggle cannabis by making a secret compartment under a trailer was foiled by a joint operation of SOG and Ambari Out Post. The team has recovered a huge quantity of cannabis in the said joint operation. A person has also been arrested in the said incident.
Reportedly, on Monday evening, the Special Operation Group and Ambari police intercepted a trailer by running a joint operation at Sahudangi adjacent to Navapara Canal More located on Fulbari Gajaldoba Road. During the search, 230 kg of cannabis kept in 14 packets in a hidden chamber under the trailer was recovered. The trailer driver identified as Ranjit Kumar, a resident of Bihar was arrested in the smuggling case.
As per the police sources, based on a tip-off, the said cannabis has been recovered by conducting a campaign. The market value of the recovered cannabis has been estimated at around Rs 15 lakh. The cannabis was being smuggled towards Dooars. Today the accused has been sent to Kojalpaiguri district court.
