Siliguri, 20th November: Posters bearing the photograph of Suvendu Adhikari with a message “Dadar Anugaami (Supporters of Dada)” had been put up along the Mahananda River conveying Chhath Puja greetings.
On Friday, a vehicle carrying the banners and its driver were detained and taken to Siliguri police station for interrogation. However, later both were released.
It is to be noted that a few days ago, similar banners with a message “Amra gorbito amra Dadar onugami (We are proud to be supporters of Dada)” were put up on the crowded streets including various traffic points in Siliguri. However, the banners did not indicate any political party, which triggered speculations and debate in the political circles of West Bengal.
Recently, Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari has been the subject of intense discussions among TMC as well as other political parties. While some say that he will leave TMC, others say that he is likely to form a new body.
Meanwhile, Trinamool district president Ranjan Sarkar, on Friday, said that the matter has nothing to do with politics.
