Siliguri, 4th January: The locals of Ward No. 34 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation alleged the municipality’s contractor of using poor quality materials for the construction of a mid-day meal room in Suryasen Primary School in Ward No. 34.
According to sources, a teacher of the school, Biswajit Nandi, complained regarding the poor quality material being used for the construction. Nandi was also allegedly threatened by the contractor. This made the locals furious and they stopped the construction of the room.
On the other hand, Shankar Ghosh, the mayor-in-council of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, visited the school to monitor the work based on the complaint. He assured that proper investigations will be carried out and steps will be taken against the contractor soon.
