Siliguri, 31st December: Siliguri Metropolitan Police is fully prepared for New Year celebrations, with more than 700 police personnel set to be deployed across the city on Tuesday and Wednesday. Special measures have been taken to prevent accidents, including fines for driving under the influence and riding without helmets, as instructed by the Traffic Department.
To ensure the festivities proceed peacefully, Siliguri Metropolitan Police has emphasized maintaining law and order throughout the city. A coordination meeting was held under the leadership of the Siliguri Police Commissioner, bringing together officers from all police stations to finalize preparations and guidelines for New Year celebrations. Restrictions and safety protocols have been outlined to prevent untoward incidents.
The deployment plan includes over 700 personnel, with more than 100 female police officers, including members of the Winners Squad and Pink Patrolling Van, specifically assigned for women’s safety.
Additionally, 350 traffic police will be on night duty to monitor roads and prevent accidents. Bar owners across the city have also been directed to adhere to Excise Department guidelines.
