Siliguri man lodges complaint against land mafias in Rajganj

Rajganj, 11th September: Rajesh Agarwal has lodged a written complaint at the Rajganj Police Station as well as to the BDO after being troubled by land mafias over his plot of land in Rajganj’s Fatapukur area. Agarwal has also sent a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.

Agarwal who is a resident of Siliguri had bought around 13 acres of land in the Fatapukur area in the year 2013. He had planned to construct a school on the said land.

Allegedly the land mafias threatened him and demanded money when the construction work of a boundary wall on the land commenced. When Agarwal denied paying the said amount, the mafias allegedly broke down the boundaries.

The matter was then reported to the Rajganj Police, BDO office, and MLA. Following which, a meeting was held in the presence of local panchayat members and the police.

Despite this, the land mafias are allegedly pestering him for money. On Thursday too, few miscreants broke a part of the said boundary wall and put up a bamboo fence.

Agarwal further stated that the mafias are still bullying him even after lodging complaints in various quarters. He further stated that if such a scenario continues, it will be impossible for any construction to be conducted in the area. He also appealed to the investors to not set up any industry in the Fatapukur area.
