Shanti Nagar Raas Mela inaugurated in Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 18th November: The 18-day long event in Naxalbari has been organized by the Shanti Nagar Raas Mela Yuva Sangha Committee on Sunday. The fair will continue until December 3.


The inauguration ceremony was held on Sunday evening and was graced by Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, along with Prithvish Roy, the Chairperson of Naxalbari Panchayat Samiti, Biraj Sarkar, Maniram Panchayat Pradhan Gautam Ghosh, Narendra Prasad, General Secretary of the Naxalbari Byabasayee Samiti, and members of the Raas Mela Committee.

During the inauguration, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh highlighted the continuous efforts of the organizers to present the fair in a unique manner every year. He also mentioned that this fair is one of the largest, after the famous Raas Mela in Cooch Behar, featuring 131 idols along with performances like Baul songs and the ‘Manasa Mangal’ (theatrics).


The fair will showcase a variety of traditional festivities and cultural performances. This as a result is expected to draw large crowds from Naxalbari and surrounding areas.
