Route diversion issued from Siliguri to Kalimpong following boulder slide on NH10

Kalimpong, 21st March: The Kalimpong district administration has ordered route diversion from Siliguri to Kalimpong following incidents of boulder slide on NH10.


According to reports, tourists are flocking to the hills of North Bengal, especially Sandakphu, to relish the season’s snowfall at the end of March. Reports of snowfall have attracted many visitors, eager to experience the serene beauty of the snow-covered landscapes. In view of the safety of travelers and vehicles, the District Magistrate (DM) of Kalimpong highlighted the continuous boulder falling in the Likhu Bhir area along National Highway No. 10, prompting the route diversion.

After the new directives, vehicles traveling between Siliguri and Kalimpong will now follow the alternative route via the Lava-Gorubathan Road. Additionally, communication between vehicles will be facilitated between Samthar Road and Kalimpong, covering a distance of approximately 27 miles.
