Siliguri, 19th February: The residents of the Dasrath Pally area along the Mahananda River in Ward No. 44 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation, have demanded land lease.
The local CPI (M) Councillor Preetikna Biswas, along with the locals, met with the Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Ashok Bhattacharya, and demanded a land lease. It has been reported that they had been discussing with Mayor Bhattacharya, in this regard, for a long time. Bhattacharya stated that necessary steps would be taken only after the matter is discussed with the State Government in Kolkata. The residents of the Dasrath Pally area have accused the State Government of not providing a land lease, despite living in the area for many years.
