Siliguri, 21st January: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, through a press release on Friday, extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for honouring Subhas Chandra Bose on his 125th birth anniversary by initiating the installation of Netaji’s statue at India Gate.
Earlier, the canopy at India Gate housed a statue of King George V which was removed in the year 1968. Lauding the initiative of the PM, MP Bista took a jibe at the Congress or parties for not showing any interest regarding the empty spot to date.
It is to be noted, the inauguration of the statue will commence on the 23rd of January on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary. Also, from this year, official Republic Day celebrations will begin on January 23.
“This is a true tribute to Netaji and shraddhanjali (homage) for his legacy and sacrifices,” Bista added.
