Rajganj: ₹5 lakh aid for deceased civic volunteer’s family, wife assured employment

Rajganj, 27th October: The administration has provided financial assistance of ₹5 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the family of civic volunteer Azizul Haque, who died in an accident while on duty. His wife has also been assured employment.

On Tuesday, a cheque for ₹5 lakh was handed over to Azizul’s family. According to reports, Azizul was seriously injured after being hit by a motorcycle while performing duty during Durga idol immersion. He was attached to the Belakoba Police Outpost. After being rescued and taken to hospital, he was declared dead by doctors.

Rajganj MLA Dinesh Sarkar described the incident as deeply tragic, stating that Azizul had died while carrying out his duties. He confirmed that the cheque for ₹5 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund had been handed over to the family. He also said that the issue of employment for Azizul’s wife had been discussed.

Azizul is survived by his wife, their two-year-old daughter and his elderly parents. As the sole earning member of the family, his death left them facing uncertainty about their future. The financial assistance and assurance of employment for his wife are expected to provide some relief.

Those present during the cheque handover included Jalpaiguri District Magistrate Aditi Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police Sujata Kumari Veenapani, Jalpaiguri Sub-Divisional Officer Moin Ahmad, Rajganj MLA Dinesh Sarkar, Rajganj BDO Suvankar Das, Rajganj Police Station IC Amitava Das, Belakoba Police Outpost OC Arijit Kundu, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati Monika Adhikari, Saha Sabhapati Nitai Mondal and other dignitaries.
