Bagdogra, 08th August: A major disruption in the railway serves occurred after a tree fell on the Bagdogra-Naxalbari railway line, severing the overhead electrical wires. As a result, train services were temporarily halted.
The incident took place near the Gurudwara area in Bagdogra, causing a commotion among locals. Additionally, a buffalo grazing nearby unfortunately came into contact with the wires and died of electrocution.
Upon receiving the news, the railway police, Bagdogra police station, forest department, and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot. The Bagdogra forest department initiated the process of removing the fallen tree from the railway line. Later, the tree was cleared and the damaged electrical wires were repaired.
Subsequently, train services have now resumed. However, due to the incident, train operations were disrupted for approximately two hours. Several passenger trains were stranded at Bagdogra and Naxalbari stations.
