Malda, 31st October: Based on a tip-off, the Mothabari police of Malda launched an operation at the Meherapur stand area and arrested a drug peddler and seized a large quantity of Yaba tablets from his possession. The accused has been identified as Anarul Sheikh (38). He is a resident of Baliharpur in Sujapur zone under Kaliachak police station.
According to police sources, the police campaigned under the leadership of OC Bitul Paul of Mothabari police station on Friday night and recovered 15,000 Yaba tablets from the arrested accused. The police speculate that the said tablets might have been smuggled from Manipur.
The accused was produced in the Malda district court today. The police are investigating the entire incident.
