Siliguri, 28th June: A notorious thief, identified as Sanjay Singh (Patal), has managed to escape from police custody once again, causing a major setback to law enforcement in Siliguri.
Sanjay Singh (Patal) had been evading the police for a considerable period of time before finally being apprehended on charges of theft from a shop in Siliguri. However, during his remand, the accused successfully fled from custody.
According to reports, a few days ago, a significant theft occurred at a shop located in Siliguri’s Bidhan Market, resulting in the loss of lakhs of rupees. Following an investigation into the incident, the Panitanki Out Post police arrested an individual named Sanjay Singh (Patal) on June 26, charging him with the theft. Subsequently, after being produced in court, the accused was granted a five-day remand for further interrogation.
However, yesterday, while undergoing a medical examination, Patal managed to escape by eluding the police during the remand period. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Subhendra Kumar stated that this was not the first time the accused had successfully evaded capture. Authorities are currently conducting searches in various locations in an attempt to apprehend Patal once again.
