Siliguri, 28th September: The North Bengal Tea Producer Welfare Association, a proprietor of the Bought leaf Factory, handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Director of Tea Development Officer in Siliguri in support of various demands.
The members of the organization said that many bought leaf factories have sprung up in North Bengal. As a result, the tea economy is losing its balance. The Tea Board is not taking any action in this regard and they are not getting a fair price for factory-made tea. They warned of staging larger demonstrations if necessary steps are not taken soon.
