Mumbai police arrest two from Siliguri for embezzlement of Rs 2 crore

Siliguri, 26th July: After allegations of crore of rupees fraud surfaced, the Mumbai police launched investigations and arrested two people from Siliguri. The arrested accused have been identified as Ashwin Patel and Ramkumar, residents of Surat and Rajasthan.


As per the report, several people had set up a fake company in Mumbai. A person paid Rs 2 crore in cash and was assured to get more amount in return. The Mumbai police launched investigations and arrested six people in connection with the incident and were till searching for Ashwin Patel and Ramkumar for the past several days.

The team later learnt that the duo was hiding in Kolkata for some days and fled to Siliguri and rented a hotel on Bidhan Road. A team of Mumbai police raided the hotel on Sunday night with the assistance of Siliguri police and Panitanki outpost police and nabbed the duo. They were taken to Siliguri court on Monday and are being taken to Mumbai on transit remand.


A Mumbai police official said that a few others along with the duo took Rs 2 crore from a person. After that, their office was closed. After receiving the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested the duo.
